Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
With Kasper Schmeichel reportedly drawing the attention from French clubs just one year before the end of his contract, it’s claimed the Foxes now see the Greek goalkeeper as his potential successor.
The information is brought by Portuguese newspaper Record, who claim Leicester City will find themselves in an advantageous situation if they do try to sign Vlachodimos.
That’s because following the arrival of manager Roger Schmidt, the 28-year-old lost his starting place in the team. So he wants a new challenge, and Benfica would be open to selling him. It’s claimed the Lisbon side plan to negotiate his exit for between €15m and €20m.
Record makes it clear that the Portuguese giants have received no offers for Vlachodimos so far, despite saying Leicester City are ‘attentive and in place in case they need a goalkeeper’. So it seems things are only actually moving if case the Foxes lose Schmeichel in the final weeks of the transfer window.
