Leicester City remain the most concrete option to sign Ajax’s Steven Bergwijn this summer, with the player changing his agent as speculation continues.
Soccer News cover the situation around Bergwijn today and how he’s swapped to agent Ali Dursun and dropped previous representative Nathan van Kooperen.
They explain that the change of agent could be seen as a sign that Bergwijn is set to leave Ajax this summer, and it is hard to ignore that it may be a signal.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away for some time, and Leicester are currently the most concrete option for him.
Ajax would be open to the sale as they could receive a nice transfer sum to help their books and remove a big earner from them in the same move.
A change of agent could be a sign that the player is now pushing to make a move happen, with a change in representative often leading to a change of club not long after.
Dursun has been heavily involved in deals to the Premier League in the past, although Manchester United’s Victor Lindelöf is currently his most high-profile client in England.
He also represents the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Viktor Gyökeres and Denis Zakari and now seems to have been tasked with getting Bergwijn a transfer, or at least exploring the possibility.
That could open the door for Leicester, who remain at the front of the queue for the Dutch winger at this moment in time.
