Leicester City are reportedly in talks with Udinese for Cyril Théréau. The Foxes have been linked to several strikers in the past few months, and the French centre-forward seems to be their latest target.
According to the Italian website Messagero Veneto, Leicester have shown their interest for the player and the first contacts with Udinese have been already made.
They say that it’s still unclear what the player’s wishes are, which means Messagero won’t jump the gun since the negotiations are in very early stages.
The 33-year-old spent his first professional years moving from club to club in France, Romania and Belgium, but ended up settling his career in Italy.
He spent four years at Chievo Verona before signing for Udinese in 2014 for €2m.
Théréau finished the last season with 12 goals and 3 assists in 37 matches. He signed a new contract last September, and is now committed to Udinese until 2018.
The Italian report doesn’t say how much Leicester would pay for the striker, but according to Transfermarkt, his value is the same €2m as a couple of years ago.
We can’t help but feel this would be wishful thinking for the player… Leicester City are Premier League champions.
