The year 2018 has been nothing but disappointing for Leicester City’s Islam Slimani.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United, where he struggled with fitness and form, and earlier in the summer Claude Puel allowed the striker to join Fenerbahce on a temporary deal.
The 30-year-old struggled to impress for the Turkish side and has managed only one goal in 875 minutes played in the league across 10 appearances, while he has two more goals to his name in the Europa League.
İrfan Yirmibes of Turkish newspaper Sozcu has compiled a list and the former Sporting man is named as Fenerbahce’s ‘worst’ signing in the last 24 years.
He claims the Algerian international has been a ‘complete flop’ for the Istanbul-based club.
The reason for the disappointment is because there were ‘great hopes’ when the Super Lig side signed Slimani on a season long loan deal in August, but he has failed to meet the desired expectations.
Slimani would be hoping things can improve for him in 2019.
