When Leicester said that Riyad Mahrez wasn’t going anywhere, they weren’t messing around.
Arsenal’s interest in the Algerian winger is nothing new, with rumours of an incoming assault from the London club circulating for a couple of weeks, and it appears to currently be happening.
L’Equipe consultant Gilles Favard took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to reveal some information he seems to have been given about Arsenal and Mahrez.
Calling himself “Le Spectre (The Spectre)” (we have no idea why), Favard claimed that Arsenal had made a bid of £30m for the Leicester star, which was clearly rejected as he followed up by saying the London club would up their offer.
True to his word, the consultant tweeted an update half an hour later claiming Arsenal had upped their bid to £35m, with Wenger making Mahrez his priority.
“Le Spectre” Arsenal vient de faire une offre de 35 millions de livres ! concernant “Marhez” priorité de “Wenger”

If these are real time updates of what is going on between the two clubs, it seems Leicester are going to have to build the wall Donald Trump has been talking about for so long to keep Arsenal away from their star.
Let’s see what happens next…
UPDATE: Things have escalated very quickly as Favard is now claiming “Mahrez to Arsenal soon”.
"Marhez" bientôt a @Arsenal

For his sake, he better be right, because you really don’t want to be on the wrong side of Arsenal Twitter.
Those hashtags can be brutal.
