Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumaré has been linked to Sevilla and a few other clubs in recent weeks.

The midfielder, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Sevilla, has a contract until the end of this season.

Last weekend, we covered claims from Spain that Sevilla are looking to sign the Leicester player for free next summer. Although there’s interest from elsewhere, the La Liga club are optimistic because Soumaré is said to favour them.

Estadio Deportivo now report ‘circumstances have changed’ and there could be a change of date when Sevilla try to sign the 26-year-old.

He’s played 787 minutes from 11 matches for the Foxes this season and his game time was limited in recent weeks. On Tuesday, Soumaré returned to the starting lineup for the first time since September 26th.

Martí Cifuentes’ decision not to count on the Frenchman recently could impact his future. The report states Leicester aren’t ruling out the option of a January sale, to avoid losing him for free. This option is said to have ‘gained momentum in recent weeks’.

If there’s a sale, it’ll likely be for a fee less than his current valuation of €12m.

Estadio report it’ll be difficult for Sevilla to sign the Frenchman in January even if they have the funds. He currently earns €5m per year at Leicester.

Soumaré’s salary and the transfer fee would make it complicated for them to sign him in the next window.

Sevilla wanted to wait for a free transfer and there’s now worry someone could get in there first.
