As claims of Leicester City interest in Walace Silva emerged in December, a source confirmed to Sport Witness that it was more than just a rumour, and some kind of talks were ongoing over a potential transfer.
Gremio’s asking price was put at €10m, but according to the source who spoke to Sport Witness, the club could likely be convinced to accept something between €8m and €9m, still a big fee for Brazilian football.
At the time it was stated that other clubs were also showing an interest in Walace, and now German newspaper Bild report that one of those is Hamburg.
Currently 16th in the Bundesliga, Hamburg want reinforcements and defensive midfielder Walace has been identified.
Backing up our earlier claims, Bild say Leicester City are the ones battling Hamburg, but the German newspaper believe Walace’s fee could go as high as €15m.
Walace Silva is 21 years of age, and a very flexible defensive player. The right footer can operate either in a defensive midfield role, in central defence, or as an all-round central midfielder.
Given his success with the Brazil Olympic Team, and that he’s already been capped at full international level, Leicester City, or anyone else, would be confident of being able to put together the required argument to secure a work permit.
