Leicester City forward Cengiz Ünder has shared his delight at his start to life at the club and playing alongside compatriot Çağlar Söyüncü.
Ünder arrived at Leicester on loan from Roma in the summer transfer window, having found himself out of favour with the Serie A side.
His loan deal runs until the summer but includes a purchase option for the Foxes to activate should his time at the club prove to be a successful one.
That is looking likely to happen, with Ünder making a solid start to life at his new club, with three assists in six appearances so far.
He’s certainly pleased with how things are going so far and believes consistency, which he struggled to find at Roma, can help him succeed at the King Power.
“I started the season really well. I am happy to have a successful performance in a league like the Premier League,” he told A Sport, relayed by Milli Gazete.
“When I talked to Çağlar on the phone, we said that I was in Rome when he was in England, I hope one day we will play in the same team in Europe.
“For a while, we both did not understand that we werern’t in the same team, we started to understand better from time to time.
“Now everything is going well for years. I am with my brother, who is my roommate. I hope we play together on the same team in Europe for many years.”
Linking up with Söyüncü has undoubtedly been a major plus for Ünder, with his international teammate making the settling in process a much easier one.
The defender knows all about how difficult it can be to establish yourself as a player in England, having required a year himself before breaking into Leicester’s team.
He’s now a regular under Brendan Rodgers, with his impressive performances earning plenty of rave reviews last season, something he’s keen to build on.
“I feel like I’m ready, I can find a chance after the last check,” he added.
“Cengiz started well; everything started very well for us. We are the leader now; our goal is in England and to continue to represent our country in the best way possible.
“In doing so, we are very proud and honoured.”
