Leeds United are ‘willing to negotiate’ a deal with Roma for defender Diego Llorente, with it unlikely the Italian side will ever pay the €18m fee agreed in the loan deal this year.
That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by Roma News, who say negotiations are open between the two sides to make a permanent transfer happen.
They explain that after his loan with the Giallorossi this season, Llorente ‘has returned’ to Leeds now that it has ended.
He has no intention of staying at Elland Road, though, particularly following their relegation to the Championship and Roma would like to keep him.
They don’t want to pay that previously agreed figure as it is ‘too much’ for them and a negotiation with Leeds is necessary to make a deal happen. Fortunately, though, those in charge at Elland Road are ‘willing to negotiate’ to get the defender off their books.
Indeed, they are looking for ‘common ground’ with the Serie A side, who are ‘pushing’ to make a deal happen as they look to secure a replacement for departing players.
What price they are willing to pay, and Leeds are willing to accept, isn’t mentioned but there is a desire from both parties to get a deal done.
