Earlier on Tuesday, we’ve seen fresh reports from the Dutch media regarding Leeds United’s interest in signing Cody Gakpo from PSV.

Eindhovens Dagblad wrote that the player should listen to an offer from the Whites ‘in coming days’, as the Elland Road side would be interested in spending a big part of the money made with Raphinha’s sale with this replacement.

We now get to see the report backed up, this time in a story from Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer.

It’s claimed it’s getting ‘increasingly likely’ that Gapko will leave PSV this summer, and his entourage is said to be speaking with Leeds United. Once again, it’s claimed PSV want €40m for the move.

The interesting claim here is that, according to VI, Gakpo ‘does not rule’ out taking something they call the ‘Wijnaldum route’. The midfielder moved to Newcastle before reaching the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain, and the winger could now do something similar.

Besides Leeds United, who could be seen as one of those ‘intermediate steps’, his entourage has also been in touch with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
