Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson believes he knows why he’s become such a favourite with the Elland Road faithful. The Swede has become a cult hero since he joined the Championship side on loan from Torino in the summer, and already has a song from the Leeds United fans.
Jansson is currently away with the Sweden national team, but took the time to speak to Aftonbladet about his first couple of months at Leeds United. There’s big interest in Sweden at how Jansson is getting on at Leeds, and that it’s going well only serves to increase that.
The fans have taken the 25-year-old to their hearts, and Jansson thinks this is down to the style of football he plays. Jansson said he gets enjoyment playing football, and shows determination in every game.
“Well I have the style of play that attracts the audience. I want it very much and I play with my heart,” said the Sweden international.
Jansson joined Leeds United on loan in the summer form Torino, and has been an instant success in Garry Monk’s side. Since making his league debut last month Leeds United have won five of the seven games Jansson has been involved in, which has turned the season around for the club.
