Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto has told Corriere della Sera Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is among the English players in the Premier League that has impressed him the most.

Last month, the Whites faced the Red Devils twice and the two forwards started both fixtures for their respective clubs.

Rashford scored in both fixtures for Manchester United and the Leeds player is not only impressed with what the England international does on the pitch.

“Of course, I followed him a lot. It’s only right that a player of his level takes advantage of the opportunity to give positive messages and help others,” he said about Rashford.

The tie at Old Trafford ended in a 2-2 draw and the Italy international opened the scoring for the Whites in the first minute. Leeds suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at home.

Corriere della Sera asked the 19-year-old on what it was like to score against Manchester United in their own backyard.

“I was struck by the silence that fell, also because the goal came unexpectedly, after a minute. A good time,” Gnonto explained.

The Leeds attacker has heaped praise on English football fans when asked what ‘struck’ him the most about the Premier League.

“The atmosphere. The fans are always warm, they make you feel the importance of the game: you understand that there is a great culture of football,” he added.

“The facilities there are top. And in Italy there are more pressures, I think. In Leeds the players are left alone.”

Gnonto’s immediate focus will be on Italy’s upcoming European qualifiers against England on Thursday. This is his first challenge against the Three Lions as a Premier League player.

“It is special to me and there is something important at stake. It’s double the value,” he said.
