Two days ago, we covered claims from Spain which stated Real Betis have made an offer to Leeds United’s Junior Firpo.

The 28-year-old’s contract expires at the end of this month and Leeds have offered him a new contract.

On Wednesday, Diario de Sevilla stated the left-back is eager to return to his former club this summer.

Estadio Deportivo point out Leeds want to extend the defender’s contract so that they can retain him in the squad on their return to the Premier League.

Lyon have also made an offer, which is more attractive from financial and sporting point of view. He’s put these proposals on hold after Real Betis joined late in the race to sign him.

Estadio state nothing is finalised yet, but the operation is advancing at a good pace. They add negotiations are ongoing between the Spanish club and Junior Firpo’s representative for a three-year contract.

Both parties are confident, and their goal is iron out the final details in the ‘coming days’.

ABC Sevilla state Real Betis have made advances in the ‘last few hours’ for the Dominican Republic international to return to his old club.

They also report the Leeds player has been offered a three-year contract and the parties are sorting out the details related to the operation.

The feeling from these two reports is that Junior Firpo, like Real Betis, is confident this operation will go through once the details are ironed out.
