Leeds United keeping tabs on Jesús Vázquez was first reported by Radio Marca Valencia on November 17th.
Since then, there have been a few reports discussing the Whites, Inter Milan and other clubs being interested in the left-back.
On November 18th, we relayed news from Spain that Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta is behind the English club’s pursuit of the 19-year-old, who has been restricted to four appearances this season.
Los Ches corporate director Javier Solís insisted the fullback is in Gennaro Gattuso’s plans.
“Jesús Vázquez is part of the team. The coach has already said he is very happy with him. These are situations that the sports field will have to face and that are part of the present and future of the club,” Solís said.
ElDesmarque Valencia relay Solís’ comments and provide their own information, stating that Leeds ‘join the bid’ to sign the Spain U19 international. Despite Jesse Marsch’s side joining a few Italian and Spanish clubs, Vázquez’s priority is to continue at the Mestalla.
To do that, the defender needs a project where he can have more game time. If it is not made available to him at Valencia, then Vázquez wants to be transferred, either through loan or a permanent sale.
Former Manchester City star David Silva started his career at Valencia. He had two loan spells at Eibar and Celta between 2004 and 2006 earlier in his career and the report says he is an ‘example to follow’ for Vázquez.
The teenager’s deal is until 2025 and has a €40m release clause. It also includes another clause that allows Vázquez to leave on loan unilaterally in January, if he doesn’t manage to clock in certain number of minutes at Valencia.
Leeds have joined the bidding for Vázquez and if they can convince him with their project, Marsch’s side have a chance to secure his services in January.
