Serie A sides Sampdoria and Pescara have joined the race to sign ADO Den Haag defender Tom Beugelsdijk, according to claims in the Dutch media. The 26-year-old only returned to the Dutch side last summer, but in the past few days has been linked with a move to Leeds United.
Omroepwest have today reported the two Serie A clubs are interested in Beugelsdijk, and could look to move in on the central defender. Both clubs are keen to strengthen in defence before the deadline, and especially Pescara who today missed out on Joleon Lescott to AEK Athens.
Beugelsdijk is expected to be a key player for ADO Den Haag this season, and showed this yesterday when he was awarded the Man of the Match for his performance against Heracles
Leeds United sent scouts to Holland last weekend to watch ADO Den Haag take on Excelsior. It’s been reported Garry Monk is impressed with the Dutchman, and his physicality would make him suitable for English football.
Beugelsdijk is seen as something of a cult hero with the ADO Den Haag fans, and subsequently Leeds United, Pescara and Sampdoria will find it difficult to convince the player to leave in this transfer window.
