Cagliari are the latest Serie A club to be linked with Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci, after the departure of Bruno Alves to Scottish Premiership side Rangers. The Leeds United outcast has been linked with several Italian clubs in recent weeks.

TMW have reported Cagliari could offer Bellusci an instant return to Serie A as a direct replacement for Ibrox-bound Bruno Alves, following his loan spell with Empoli from Leeds United last season. The 28-year-old was one of the standout players for Empoli during the last campaign, but after their relegation to Serie B they didn’t activate their right of redemption.

It’s been claimed Cagliari want a solid defender to replace Bruno Alves, and that an offer will be tabled soon with Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani. The Portugal defender was one of the cornerstones at Cagliari last season, but he’s since then joined his compatriot Pedro Caixinha at Rangers.

After his success with Cagliari last season Bruno Alves signed for Rangers in May. Ibrox boss Caixinha is looking to strengthen his squad this summer, and acted quickly to sign the veteran.

Caixinha has since gone on record to say that Bruno Alves will be a leader in the squad and can help Fabio Cardoso, who has also signed for Rangers this summer.
