The non sensationalist El Periodico Mediterraneo reckon Alfonso Pedraza to Leeds United is all agreed, so the player will be heading to England to complete his move.
Just over a week ago Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Southampton had been left ‘delighted’ after scouting the Villarreal owned player, whilst he was on loan with second division Lugo.
The winger had impressed Southampton so much, that it was explained the club were ‘determined’ to sign him but weren’t sure whether to move now or in the summer.
Leeds United have beaten them to it, according to the Spanish claims, and Pedraza will join until the end of the season on loan. There’s a mandatory buying clause if Leeds United are promoted to the Premier League, meaning they’ll have to then pay €10m for the 20 year old.
Villarreal are paying compensation of €300k to Lugo to enable the end of his loan and move to Leeds United. It looks like Garry Monk has beaten Claude Puel to this one.
El Periodico Mediterraneo are complimentary towards Leeds United, calling it an historical club.
