Earlier this month, Mundo Deportivo explained Leeds United are edging closer towards agreeing a deal for Barcelona’s Ilias Akhomach.
The Whites have not yet reached an agreement for the 18-year-old, who has a contract expiring in June.
Leeds continue to be one of the clubs interested in the winger and this is explained in today’s edition of Catalan newspaper Sport.
The Spain U19 international seems to have decided against renewing his contract at Barca as the newspaper states he ‘will leave’ the club after this season. This has seen him draw attention from Javi Gracia’s side, Arsenal, Sevilla and AC Milan.
It’s claimed the teenager’s future ‘points more towards’ the Premier League, where Leeds are one of the ‘strongest candidates’ to secure his services.
Arsenal get a mention. Their interest was first reported by Sport on March 23rd, when it was insisted that Leeds are still ‘on pole’ to sign the youngster.
Akhomach made his senior debut for the Blaugrana in Xavi Hernández’s first game in charge in November 2021.
He made three appearances last season, but has not featured for Barcelona during the current campaign.
