Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani will need to up his bid for Italian side Sampdoria if he wishes to win the race for the club.

That’s according to Il Secolo XIX, relayed by Club Doria, who provide the latest update on Radrizzani’s efforts to buy the club.

Reports over the last week have made it clear that the Leeds owner is among the bidders for Sampdoria, with it explained yesterday that he has so far only made it clear he would be willing to bid rather than actually doing so.

Il Secolo follow that up today, explaining that there are three proposals to save Sampdoria at this moment in time, which have been presented to the advisors Pwc and Legance.

Alessandro Barnaba was the first to make a proposal and was followed by Andrea Radrizzani and Raffaele Mincione’s Wrm Group.

Barnaba, though, has an ace up his sleeve which is putting him at the front of the queue at this moment in time and that is the backing of former Sampdoria president Edoardo Garrone.

He has guaranteed ‘exclusive support’ to Barnaba and made that public, something which has put him ahead of the Leeds president for the time being.

There is also the money factor at play, with it explained that Radrizzani’s proposal, or at least the initial investment, is currently €15m less than the one proposed by Barnaba.

It seems, then, the Leeds chief has work to do if he is to win the race to end up as the new owner of Sampdoria.
