Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca ‘is still waiting’ to secure his move to Real Betis, despite a deal being in place between the two clubs.
That’s according to AS, who say the Spaniard has to wait for Betis to open up room in their ‘salary gap’ before they can finalise the deal for the midfielder.
Roca has been heavily linked with a move to Betis for the last few weeks as part of the exodus from Elland Road this summer following their relegation to the Championship.
It’s been made clear that he has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Leeds on loan this summer, so long as the ‘buying’ club take up his wages.
Betis are happy to do that and see him as a low-cost option to bolster Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for next season.
They’ve been pushing to get a deal over the line with Leeds and it was reported earlier this week that their focus was on getting players out of their squad to open up space in the wage bill for Roca.
AS back that up, stating the midfielder is ‘still waiting for a salary gap’ to open up so that he can sign for Betis.
According to them negotiations between the Verdiblancos and Leeds for the Catalan midfielder have now been closed on a loan deal with a purchase option of €12m included.
The deal is seen as a perfect one for the Spanish side, whose director of football Ramón Planes, has sought to include purchase options in all of the loan deals he is looking to do this summer.
Leeds have accepted the one he’s proposed for Roca and, as such, the deal is now in place, the Spanish side just need to make room in their wage bill to get the deal over the line.
