Leeds United defender Diego Llorente is ‘in agreement on everything’ with AS Roma over a transfer this summer, with the Italian side looking to secure another loan deal.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Roma director of football Tiago Pinto isn’t keen on spending big money on a player who will turn 30-years-old in August.
They explain that Roma are keen to sign Llorente again for next season after his loan spell under Jose Mourinho this season.
That loan deal included a purchase clause worth €18m but Roma considered that too high and let it expire, hoping to do a better deal this summer.
An ‘exceptional’ relationship with Jose Mourinho, his acclimatisation to the city and the team are all components combining together to convince him on the move.
He’s currently on holiday in the Balearic Islands and in the meantime, Pinto is working, successfully according to the newspaper, on a second loan deal with Leeds.
He wants to strike that deal as soon as possible, perhaps paying more than they did last year in an ‘onerous loan’ with another purchase clause. At the moment the idea is to pay €1-1.5m for the initial loan and then €8-9m for the purchase.
That would cover his remaining cost on Leeds’ books and there is a confidence, at least from Gazzetta, that the deal is there to be done.
