FC Zürich are hoping that Leeds United will sell Wilfried Gnonto this summer as a deal could bring in millions for the Swiss club.
That’s according to Blick, who cover how FC Zürich are ‘dreaming of a million-Euro windfall’ from any potential sale this summer.
They explain that Gnonto has ‘dribbled his way into the notebooks’ of England’s top clubs after his performances for Leeds, where he impressed despite their relegation to the Championship.
A report at the end of last month made it clear that both Arsenal could be interested in him and a move to either would ‘delight’ his former club and FCZ boss Ancillo Canepa.
That’s because when they sold Gnonto to Leeds they included ‘a whole series of contractual clauses’ built into the deal that could be ‘worth millions’ for the Swiss side.
Gnonto is currently valued at €30m and any deal at that figure would see FC Zürich ‘cash in again’ from the transfer and add to the €4.5m figure they have already received.
Blick don’t make it clear that the clauses are or how much they are worth, just that they exist, and FC Zürich are rubbing the hands at the prospect of them being activated.
That will need Leeds to sell Gnonto first, although they say that is a distinct possibility as the player ‘hardly wants to play’ in the Championship next season as the wants to play in the 2024 European Championship with Italy.
