Just last week, a report emerged claiming that Leeds United were after Josip Brekalo.

The Croatian was said to be one of the players the Elland Road side were looking at to bolster their attack, as the need for a winger was there for them to address.

Brekalo has been in Germany for the past five years, both with Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart, and Calciomercato.it in Italy believe they continue to have an interest in the 23-year-old.

While the latest article is there to report of Atalanta joining the race for the player, it’s explained Inter, Fiorentina, Atlético Madrid and ‘the English side of Leeds’ all ‘appreciate’ him.

Brekalo, down his end, ‘would like to leave Wolfsburg to try a new adventure’, and the Bundesliga club will not stand in his way, as they ‘hope for an auction’.

The starting price is said to be somewhere between €18m-€20m, although the Germans ‘could also be open to the loan with the obligation of redemption’.

Whether that suits Leeds remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an affordable price for a player with room to grow and who has 17 goals and 12 assists in 115 Bundesliga games.
