Leeds United are currently leading Everton in the race for Coventry City star Viktor Gyökeres at the end of the season.
That’s according to TuttoJuve, who say the Whites are looking to complete a double deal alongside the permanent signing of Weston McKennie from Juventus.
They report that Leeds are ‘looking to sign’ McKennie on a permanent basis in the summer after securing him on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window. That deal will cost them around €30m.
They don’t plan to stop there, though, and are then looking to bolster their forward line with the capture of Gyökeres from Coventry.
He’s been in superb form for the Championship side this season, bagging 18 goals and eight assists in the league to continue the fine goalscoring form he showed last season.
That has generated plenty of interest in him and both Everton and Leeds have been linked for the best part of six months, with the player even speaking about the interest publicly.
According to TuttoJuve, though, it is Leeds who are in front at this moment in time and they have managed to get ‘ahead of Everton’ in the race for his signature.
They make no mention of the nature of the possible deal or why that is the case, just that they seemingly have an advantage over the Toffees as they look to wrap up a double deal for the summer.
