Leicester City have secured promotion back to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca’s orders.
The Italian is expected to leave the King Power for Chelsea and the Foxes then have to appoint his successor.
Leicester, who have already started the process, have identified Maurizio Sarri as one of the targets.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who explains that Leicester have carried out an ‘in-depth survey’ for Sarri.
The 65-year-old has been without a job since leaving Lazio in March. Pedullà says the English club like him and therefore, this is a ‘lead to follow’. As well as Sarri, Leicester are also looking at other candidates to replace Maresca.
Sarri spent the 2018/19 season at Chelsea and helped them win the Europa League. He now has an option to return to England, if the Italian were to accept the Leicester job.
The former Napoli manager has already turned down an approach made by Panathinaikos. The journalist claims Sarri isn’t in a hurry and is waiting for clarity on the situation in Italy, with Bologna and others looking for a manager.
Leicester have made contact with Sarri and it needs to be seen whether they can convince him to come back to the Premier League.
