Getting the best out of somewhat limited resources at Saint-Etienne, Christophe Galtier is a very respected manager in France, and should probably be at a bigger club somewhere else.
However, the 50-year-old seems determined to remain loyal to the Ligue 1 club, as Le10 Sport in France reveal he has rejected yet another offer from a big club to leave.
First came the offer from Aston Villa last season, which he turned down because the season had already started.
Then, a few months later, over the summer, came attention from Lazio in Italy.
The Serie A club apparently held secret talks with the manager, which were rumoured to have taken place before they decided to try to bring Marcelo Bielsa in (who turned them down after they’d announced he’d be their manager).
Le10 have no idea why the move didn’t happen or what was said in the meeting, just that he held talks with Lazio at some stage over the course of the summer.
We all know what happened at Aston Villa in the meantime…
