Santiago Gimenez remains at Feyenoord despite going through another summer of endless links, this time mainly with Nottingham Forest.
There was, it seems, the possibility of an exit this summer with the Dutch club ready to sell after the player endured a difficult few months in the Eredivisie.
TUDN‘s Hugo Ramirez has revealed that Serie A giants Milan made a deadline offer to sign the Mexican but their bid was well below what Forest had offered some days prior.
Ramirez told TUDN: “I’ve been doing some research. We know what was said about Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen, the German team couldn’t sell Patrik Schick.
“At the last minute, an offer came from Milan, but it was €8m less than what Nottingham Forest had offered.”
Ramirez went on to state there’s a possibility that the 23-year-old could leave in January.
The suggestion is that AC Milan would have been a preferable destination for the striker when compared to Nottingham Forest. That could be why Gimenez repeatedly rejected the Premier League club, because he knew the Rossoneri were keen.
Ultimately, he ending up going nowhere.
