Portuguese manager Bruno Lage has admitted he wants to be ‘fighting for titles’ at his next job after his disappointing exit from Wolves.
Lage has been speaking to CNN Portugal, relayed by O Jogo in his homeland about his career so far and where it will take him next as he remains out of work after leaving Wolves.
He had been in charge at Molineux since July 2021 but only managed 51 games in charge of the club before departing in October last year.
He left the club after a fourth defeat of the season had seen them slide into the Premier League relegation zone, a result which actually came in the midst of a poor run that dated back to the previous campaign and meant they had only won one of their previous 15 games.
That form came after a big spend in the summer in which money was invested in the squad so Lage could mould it to his image, but it clearly didn’t work out.
It was that which ultimately led to the change and Lage insists he’ll be looking for a little more from those above him when it comes to his next appointment as a result.
“I want places where I can fight for titles, have that challenge,” he said.
“But where I feel the project, where I know the budget limitations, sports policy, game idea, and where I can be the right person for that, to take from point A to B.”
