Chris Smalling’s decision to leave Manchester United for AS Roma on loan has paid off, allowing him to play regularly and shine.
Roma manager Paulo Fonseca has already expressed his desire to make the player’s stay permanent.
There’s been recent rumours linking the former Fulham man to Juventus. Calciomercato decided to look into this and they bring in a short update on the reported interest from the Turin club.
Smalling will turn 31 in November and the Italian outlet states Juve’s management have no intention of making a big investment by signing him, especially if Maurizio Sarri continues at Juve.
It’s claimed the former Chelsea manager prefers defenders with different characteristics than Smalling. There’s a belief within Juventus that Manchester United are trying to create an auction, which doesn’t please the Italian champions.
Even though Juventus appreciate Smalling and his abilities, they are not interested in him and he’s not in their plans for the future.
