RB Leipzig’s pursuit for Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is now revealed by German outlet Bild.
It’s claimed that the Bundesliga side had been in a strong chase for the player at the end of the January transfer window. The problem was the ‘veto’ from Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp.
The manager reportedly didn’t want Keita to leave Liverpool, as the player once again being regularly used at the club.
But that still doesn’t mean RB Leipzig are giving up on the player. It’s well known that the 27-year-old’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season, and that’s a perfect opportunity for the interested clubs to try to get him.
Bild then writes that it’s ‘very possible’ that the German club will carry on with their chase, especially because they’re expected to lose a couple of midfielders next summer.
Keita only has 11 appearances for Liverpool this season, missing most games because of injuries, and was used in the last seven Premier League matches played by the Reds. That probably makes Klopp right for holding him in the winter transfer window.
