West Ham United are in the picture to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán this summer.
The 20-year-old has struggled for regular game time since joining Aston Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023.
To put it in context, the striker clocked in 1,229 minutes from 49 games for Aston Villa, of which over 1,100 minutes were from last season, where he scored eight goals.
Sky Italia, relayed by MilanNews.it, claim West Ham have a ‘strong interest’ in the Aston Villa player. This is mentioned in a report that claims AC Milan have identified him as an option to bolster their attack next season.
The Serie A side’s interest in the player doesn’t seem to be new if Sky journalist Manuele Baiocchini is to be believed, and his comments are relayed by Radio Rossonera.
Olivier Giroud’s exit from the San Siro has forced the Italian club to look for a new striker in the market and they have included the Colombia international in their target list.
The Hammers have been working to try and sign the Aston Villa man, but Milan rekindling their interest in Durán may not please Julen Lopetegui’s side.
“The latest news is that for Milan there could also be a comeback for Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán. We are talking about a striker like Fullkrug or Abraham, but watch out for this third option as well,” he said.
“The player is talking to West Ham and also seemed to be very close to the Hammers, but we had an indiscretion about AC Milan, who might reconsider.”
