In the winter market, Southampton allowed Carlos Alcaraz to join Juventus on a loan deal with an option to buy.
The Saints will earn at least €3.7m in loan fee and the option to buy is set at €49.5m, payable in three installments.
Tutto Juve journalist Massimo Pavan indicates the Serie A side don’t intend to pay the full fee to Southampton, if they decide to exercise the purchase option.
The 21-year-old Argentine has already made his debut for the Italian club in their defeat to Inter Milan last weekend.
If he were to feature regularly under Massimiliano Allegri’s orders and also impresses with his performances, Juve could consider buying him after this season.
Even in that case, the journalist is of the belief they wouldn’t spend more than €30m, which could be paid in two or three installments.
Pavan says it’s impossible for Juve to pay €49.5m to buy the Southampton owned player. At the same time, he says ‘don’t rule out’ a potential swap deal, if the Saints were to get promoted back to the Premier League, as someone like Samuel Iling Jr or Matías Soulé could be used to bring the price down.
Juve may change their stance if Alcaraz shines in the coming months, but it would be a shock if they put forward close to €50m in cash for him.
