Chelsea invested heavily to bolster their attacking division in the summer by signing Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
Werner has hit the ground running at the west London club and has netted eight times in all competitions for the Blues. Tammy Abraham has also impressed this term with six goals and two assists.
The duo’s performances have seen Olivier Giroud settle for a place on the bench. He has started only one match, which came in his side’s EFL Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in September.
Giroud hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes for Frank Lampard’s side this season, and Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico states the striker ‘will leave London in January’.
The World Cup winner is in his final year of contract at Stamford Bridge and even though there have been no strong reports of Barcelona interest in the former Arsenal striker, the journalist has decided to address the possibility of the 34-year-old ending up at the Camp Nou.
Rico claims it’s a “no” from the Catalan club for signing the Frenchman, even if he was made available on a free transfer.
He doesn’t provide an explanation on why Barca don’t want to sign Giroud, but his report should help us get an indication about the Spanish giants’ stance on signing the Chelsea player.
