Since Roberto Firmino’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, there’s been a rumour in Brazil in the past few days saying Corinthians could dream of signing the player.
The 31-year-old previously claimed that’s his childhood club, and despite saying he’d only like to make that move at the end of his career, his situation at Anfield opened up that possibility for this year.
However, as journalist Jorge Nicola covers the rumours, he rules out any possibility of Firmino leaving Liverpool to join Corinthians, claiming the player is still well rated in English football.
The reporter claims he ‘bets’ on a contract renewal with the Reds. And if that doesn’t happen, the player is expected to have ‘other big offers’ to stay in Europe, as signing him on a free transfer would be a ‘huge bargain’ for any club.
Featuring for Liverpool this season, Firmino has nine goals and four assists in 21 appearances. It was recently reported by Brazilian outlet UOL that the Anfield side are currently ‘studying’ the possibility of handing him a new contract.
