Aston Villa’s interest in Real Betis fullback Alex Moreno suddenly became a big story in the Spanish media.

Following initial reports about Unai Emery’s request to sign the 29-year-old, it’s now Mundo Deportivo who come up with more claims.

Their report says that Betis are aware of Aston Villa’s moves to sign Moreno and already took a decision regarding a January sale, as the La Liga side will not let the player move for less than €18m.

Mundo Deportivo recalls that Moreno came close to leaving the Spanish club in a €18m deal for Nottingham Forest in the summer, and ended up deciding against the move back then.

Now the fee to sign him is again €18m, with the report claiming Betis will be in need of money and any big sale would be necessary.

The outlet adds that in case Aston Villa do not succeed in signing Moreno, then they’re going after Rennes fullback Adrien Truffert, although it isn’t said if the Belgian player would be a more expensive or cheaper option than the Betis fullback.
