Even though Argentina has been suffering with one of its biggest economic crisis in history, former national team manager Jorge Sampaoli seems to be taking good advantage of it.

As reported by local outlet Olé, when the boss left the national team after the World Cup in July, he agreed a recision in which the AFA would have to pay US$1.5m.

The problem is that at the time a dollar was worth 28 pesos. Now, the rate has increased to 39, which will end up making a huge difference in the payment.

As the release is being paid in seven different installments, Sampaoli is currently having a big advantage with the crisis. He was supposed to be paid 31 million pesos, but will make 43 million at current rates.

Argentina had a strong currency devaluation in May followed by a second one at the end of August, bringing the Argentine Peso to hit the 40 to US$1 mark, the highest in its history.

To avoid investors from walking away, President Mauricio Macri has increased general interests rate up to 60% per year, bringing a lot of instability and uncertainty to the country’s economy.

So even though Olé claims that it will be no big deal for the AFA, who have sponsorships and tickets deals all set in dollars, it should mean a lot for Sampaoli’s pocket.
