Rafa Mir is back being praised in the Spanish media.

It’s been a while, but the Wolves player is a clear sign of the ‘bright’ future for Spain’s national team, reports AS on Friday.

Mir was actually on the bench for Spain U21s for Thursday’s match against Albania, but he came on and scored a goal in what was his debut for the team. AS believe that Spain having someone able to come off the bench for his debut and impress in just 15 minutes, along with finding the back of the net, is a big positive for the national set-up.

It’s got to be good for Wolves too. There have been doubts around Mir and him failing to break through at Wolves, but he only turned 21 years of age in June and a loan was always the likeliest option.

At Las Palmas, in Spain’s second division, the striker has one goal in three games so far this season. Flip that to a more positive slant, and he’s scored two in his last two games when the national team is taken into account.

Spain’s other goalscorers last night were Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal, and Borja Mayoral who is owned by Real Madrid but on loan at Levante.

Not bad company for the Wolves youngster to be in.
