On Saturday, we covered claims from Italy which stated Jaka Bijol has reached an agreement to join Leeds United.
The 26-year-old Slovenia international was presented as being convinced about joining Leeds United and had given approval to the Whites after reaching an agreement with the newly promoted Premier League club.
Now the issue would be agreeing with Udinese and that’s proving to be a little more difficult.
Corriere dello Sport reported on Friday that Leeds United are in ongoing talks with Udinese after their first offer for the central defender, worth €17m, was turned down. That report stated the Serie A club want €25m, but other reports have put the figure at €20m, and it’s even been suggested a little less may do the trick.
Messaggero Veneto, a newspaper local to Udinese, report Jaka Bijol has told his club he wants to leave this summer. They then state Leeds United started at €15m and got to €18m, with Udinese holding out for that €25m, potentially including bonuses.
The newspaper then send a bit of a dig towards Leeds United, regarding a previous negotiation with Udinese: ‘Maybe they should remember the exhausting negotiation for Rodrigo De Paul that didn’t end as they wanted due to a few “bits”.’
Essentially, they’re saying Leeds United need to pay a little more if they don’t want to lose out again.
