As you might have heard, West Ham United’s deal with Lyon to send Saïd Benrahma to the French club seemingly fell through.
However, the Ligue 1 side refused to give up, and decided to appeal the situation with FIFA, pointing the blame on the Hammers, who themselves claimed a technical glitch caused them to have issues with sending the paperwork.
Well, according to Laurent Prud’homme relayed by L’Equipe, who is Lyon’s general director, he has received a message from FIFA suggesting that the deal with West Ham will be allowed to go through.
That will be a relief for both them, the player and the Hammers, who were happy to let their winger leave on a loan with an option to buy.
Prud’homme said: “I’ve just received a message from FIFA. Normally, it’s accepted. Our efforts are paying off. The French Federation asked the English FA, who have seven days to accept. It seems that our efforts are probably going to pay off.”
It appears that it’s now in the hands of both federations, and it seems both West Ham and Lyon are expecting to get a definitive answer on the Benrahma saga before the end of the day.
The player had been pushed to one side by David Moyes this season after the arrival of Mohammed Kudus, which is why a move had been accepted for January.
