Former Watford man Ken Sema has explained he’s is loving life away from the club after moving to Cyprus with Paphos FC in the January transfer window.
Fotboll Skanalen cover comments from the 31-year-old today in which he admits he is loving life in a sunnier part of Europe after his departure from Watford.
The full-back spent seven years with Watford after arriving in a €2.25m deal from Östersunds in 2018. He would go on to make 176 appearances for the club after that, the most of his career to date, despite a loan spell at sister club Udinese in the 2019/20 season.
Sema departed on a free transfer at the end of the January transfer window and made the surprise move to Paphos FC in Cyprus.
They finished this season as champions, finishing seven points ahead of Aris Limassol in second, winning their first ever league title and securing qualification for the Champions League for the first time as well.
Sema was a big part of that after his move from Watford in January and admits he is absolutely thrilled with life in his new home.
“It’s fantastic. I have a wife and two children. It feels very good,” he said.
“The sun is on our side and it’s very safe there. I’m never worried about anything. They’re fine, too. It is important that the family is well.
“It’s new. I’ve got into something new, and I didn’t play much in Watford towards the end of many different reasons. But I think it’s gone well. Then it’s a bit that I’m going to adapt. It’s a new everyday life that I needed to get into. It feels good. Now I get a pre-season and then I get into it for real.
“We’re entering a Champions League qualifier after winning the league. The idea is for us to keep winning in Cyprus and hopefully go into a European game. It feels good. It may be that I get to play in a tournament that I have not done before.
“Before, I played in the Europa League and the League. I guess it’s CL I haven’t done yet. I can have the opportunity for that now. I look forward to it very much.”
