Rangers are on the verge of a January signing, although less-excitingly than a player it’s an assistant coming in for manager Philippe Clement.

As reported by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Wednesday afternoon, the Scottish Premiership club are on the verge of appointing Issame Charaï. According to the claims from Tavolieri, Charaï has even held his first training session with Rangers and is set to make the move official.

If all goes to plan, Charaï will sign a three and a half year contract with Rangers later today, with the announcement presumably coming soon after that.

The journalist involved presents the move to Rangers as a done deal, and it’s explained Charaï will be appointed Clement’s primary assistant at Ibrox.

The 42-year-old was a forward during his playing career and spent the entirety of that within Belgian football. He’s since had multiple roles as a coach and assistant manager, and a spell in charge of Morocco’s U23 side, but Rangers will be the biggest name of his career so far.
