Ipswich Town have seen a renewed €25m bid for Panathinaikos forward Fotis Ioannidis rejected by the Greek club.
That’s according to Sport 24 and Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, who say Ipswich will need to offer more if they are to get a deal over the line.
Chorianopoulos simply reports that Ipswich had made a new bid for the 24-year-old centre forward, which was valued at €25m but quickly rejected by Panathinaikos.
Sport 24 back that up, reporting that a new bid worth €25m was made by Ipswich today but was rejected by the Greek side.
The Tractor Boys are ‘intensifying’ their efforts for the striker as they look to bolster Kieran McKenna’s squad for their return to the Premier League.
A new offer was sent to Panathinaikos’ offices but was categorically rejected by the Greek side, despite them having opened the door to Ipswich at the beginning of June.
Ipswich bid €22.5m at that point but it was rejected, and Panathinaikos seem to have now changed their stance, insisting the striker is not for sale.
They’ve given the same response to both Lazio and Girona, who have also been credited with interest, while reports in Italy have claimed Bologna have even been in touch with the player personally.
Those claims insisted they had the player’s agreement to a move, but Sport 24 insist that is not something they’ve been able to confirm. Instead, it is Ipswich who are pushing, with their latest €25m offer rejected.
