There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Chris Smalling to AS Roma.
Earlier today we covered takes from both Gazzetta dello Sport and Correire dello Sport on the situation. The former suggested Diogo Dalot could be sent on loan to Roma and that may help Smalling’s move, whilst the latter said an intermediary had travelled to Manchester to present the Serie A club’s latest offer.
SportItalia, via FCInterNews, now report an intermediary ‘will fly to London’ on Wednesday afternoon. Unless there’s multiple agents working on this deal, it would be assumed Corriere dello Sport and SportItalia can’t both be right.
Regardless, it’s stated the man on a mission has been sent to ‘close the deal’ with Manchester United and get Smalling to Roma secured before other clubs enter the picture.
Inter Milan have been linked with the defender in recent days, and it’s likely that which is causing worry for Roma.
There’s no claims on what the latest offer is, however, the general reporting in Italy right now puts it at around €15m, with Manchester United asking for €20m.
