With a contract expiring at the end of this season, Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud continues to be linked with clubs in Italy.

Juventus have been credited with an interest in the striker after their manager, Andrea Pirlo, admitted the 34-year-old would be “handy” for his side.

Fiorentina are looking to strengthen their strike force in the ongoing window and Italian intermediary Costantino Nicoletti has explained the France international can be a good fit for La Viola.

The former Arsenal man has insisted he would like to the finish the season at Stamford Bridge.

However, Nicoletti said during an with Fiorentinanews.com that Cesare Prandelli’s side could be successful in convincing the former Arsenal man to join them, if they present a good project.

“Giroud’s are words that a player has to say in front of the microphones. I am convinced that if Fiorentina presented him with an ambitious project, he could also arrive in January, a condition that would also be appropriate for Chelsea,” Nicoletti said.

“He would be the perfect profile for various reasons: he is the right age (34 years old) to bring experience to the group and teach [Dušan] Vlahović movement and help him grow, but at the same time he still has an extraordinary sense of goal.

“He also shares his passion for golf with Prandelli and his French nationality with Ribery. Giroud earns more or less as much as the former Bayern, an affordable figure for Commisso, and then Pradè has an excellent relationship with Chelsea.”

Nicoletti only shared his views on why the World Cup winner can be the right addition for Fiorentina and there isn’t anything to indicate or suggest he is working on helping Giroud get a move away from Stamford Bridge in January.

Should Giroud decide against leaving the Blues in the winter market, he will have an opportunity to join a club of choice on a free transfer.

Nicoletti has urged Fiorentina to start working on this case now, if they wish to take the Frenchman in the summer.

“Absolutely yes [Giroud will be a valid target for Fiorentina], always considering that Chelsea cannot make great demands for a player with a contract expiring [in six months],” the intermediary explained.

“Fiorentina’s only problem is that until March they will still not have the certainty of their future, as they are always in a dangerous position [in the table].

“Although, personally, I believe that this year the risk of relegation does not exist given the squad available to Prandelli. However, if Pradè wants to take Giroud in June, he will have to start working on it right now.”
