Newcastle United are in the mix for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer this summer, but Juventus hold all the power when it comes to a transfer.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say Newcastle are one of the suitors for the Brazilian as reports continually link him with Manchester United.
They cover how reports in England are convinced that Erik ten Hag’s side will move for the defender this summer and are not concerned about the sums required to sign him.
That’s also said to be the case for Newcastle and the player’s other Premier League suitors, though, who they say would be more than willing to pay the €60-70m release clause in his current deal.
In reality, TMW report that the clause in his current deal doesn’t activate until the summer of 2025 and is worth €60-70m.
Furthermore, Juventus don’t have the ‘slightest intention’ of selling Bremer at this moment in time, although that can always be changed by the opportunity to make a major profit.
This is not the first time Newcastle have been linked and it was even suggested earlier this year that Manchester United’s interest was coming via Dan Ashworth, who is still in place at St James’ Park for now.
Whether they can actually stump up the money to convince Juventus is up for debate having seemingly hit an FFP/PSR ceiling, but in Italy they’re convinced they remain among the suitors.
