Brazilian attacking talent Luan has been on the radar of European clubs this summer, after he became a leading player at Gremio, and helped Brazil to win the Olympic Games by scoring three goals in six games.

According to the previous reports, Sampdoria were heavily interested in him, and it was said Fenerbahce and Liverpool could join the race to get him, even if a Sport Witness source claimed Liverpool’s interest was “just a smoke”.

Over the past week there’s been further insistence that Liverpool are keen, with claims the club sent someone to watch Lian in action for Gremio. Once again, a Sport Witness source was able to confirm this wasn’t the case.

A few days ago, everything looked like Luan should be joining Spartak Moscow soon, and the fee for Gremio would be around €22-25m. Then it was believed the transfer would be announced during the week, but Luan still remains Gremio’s player.

Gosha Chernov, journalist of Russian newspaper Sport Express asked Luan’s agent Jair Peixoto if there is still an option of Luan joining Spartak.

‘I have nothing to say to you,‘ he answered.

Later, the same outlet reported there are disagreements between the clubs due to the exact fee and even if the dealings were delayed, the deal should be completed in the upcoming days.

In the end, rumours about Liverpool’s interest didn’t appear to be so serious, as there are no notes of any official offers having been made by English club so far, even if that can still change.
