Player keen to join Tottenham despite ‘complicated’ situation – Spurs hold all the power

For the past few days, claims from the Catalan press stated Clément Lenglet continues to prioritise a move to Tottenham Hotspur amid interest from other clubs.

It was also reported Spurs will hold talks with Barcelona on Tuesday to find a solution for the defender.

Sport have a report on the 28-year-old and their title says his move to Tottenham is ‘complicated’.

The centre-back was on loan at the north London club last season and they have been trying to buy him on a cheap deal this summer. The La Liga side are keen to get rid of him as he’s no longer included in Xavi Hernández’s plans.

Despite these factors, the two clubs couldn’t find an agreement so far.

A potential deal has become ‘complicated’ after Spurs completed Micky van de Ven’s signing on Tuesday.

Van de Ven, like the Frenchman, is a left-footed centre-back.

Therefore, Sport say Barca are questioning whether Ange Postecoglou’s side will still be interested in signing the former Sevilla man.

The report adds Lenglet prefers to join Tottenham but if a deal doesn’t materialise, he would be forced to look at alternatives.
