Raul Jimenez’s injury situation bas been the main story of Mexico’s international break.
There’s been conflicting reports in the country’s media, with some claims even suggesting he’ll miss the World Cup, despite the player’s own father trying to calm the situation down and insisting he can soon return to action for Wolves.
It would appear Jimenez’s groin issue is indeed causing a great deal of worry in Mexico ahead of the Qatar tournament, and clearly that would not be the case if he was set to return soon.
Depor quote Mexico manager Gerardo Martino as saying: “I am optimistic. The injury is worrying, but the goal is to help him recover and not throw in the towel, think he’s going to get there. Don’t change your head. When I went to eat with him I saw that he is positive. We have to take care of his injury and he shouldn’t stop being positive.”
According to Depor, there’s a big effort going on to keep Jimenez focused on being fit for the World Cup, with the suggestion being he could otherwise lose hope.
It’s even stated that Wolves could be asked to release the striker early ahead of the World Cup, so he could continue his rehabilitation with the national set-up.
Of course, that doesn’t sound very optimistic for Jimenez appearing for Wolves in the coming weeks, and Bruno Lage will want to get the player back and see what is really going on.
