Yankuba Minteh has been a success during his loan with Feyenoord. Signing for Newcastle United from OB last summer, it was felt a season in the Eredivisie would be the best development plan for the 19-year-old.
Since making that move to Feyenoord, Minteh has won a lot of fans in Dutch football. The youngster has mainly played on the right wing, scoring 3 goals and adding two assists across 690 minutes for the Dutch club.
He missed five matches in October and November due to a hamstring issue, but was able to impress again on his return. His level has seen claims Newcastle could bring him back to the club in the January window, cutting short his loan move in the Netherlands.
Dutch website FC Update say he was injured after coming on against PSV, and they also state his performance was ‘erratic’ whilst he was on the pitch.
1908.nl say it’s not yet known if the Newcastle United owned player is again suffering from an hamstring issue, potentially related to the injury he’s only recently returned from.
That would be a further concern for Newcastle, and perhaps a return in January and the rough and tumble of the Premier League is a step too far.
