Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has admitted injuries are a part of his career and he has learned to be careful with himself and ensure he isn’t plagued by them.
The winger has been speaking ahead of the international break with Belgium, where he is a part of Domenico Tedesco’s squad once again.
He joins the group after a strong start to life at Manchester City following a €60m move from Stade Rennais in the summer transfer window.
He joined the club as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who had elected to move to Saudi Arabia earlier in the summer.
The switch is very much the next step in the 21-year-old’s developing career, which saw him start at Anderlecht as a highly rated youngster before moving to Rennes in October 2020.
One thing that has been a problem for him, particularly during his time in France, is a series of niggling injuries limiting his time on the pitch.
Between 2021 and this year the Manchester City winger missed 217 days and 50 games with hamstring, knee, calf and muscle injuries.
He’s yet to miss any time for Manchester City but insists he’s learned how to manage his own body to avoid any repeats moving forwards.
“I don’t train differently,” he said.
“I haven’t been injured since March. Injuries are part of my profile and my playing style. I know my body better now. That helps me to avoid injuries.”
